Nothing unique yet compared to other hawker centres, but the food was still decent🟢 Pretty amazing oyster omelette, felt fresh and the egg was sauce-like🟢 Good nutmeg drinks. Some said it was better than the other hawker centres🟢 Got myself the cheesy flavour for the fried chicken chop, weird combination, didn't go well, but the chicken itself was nice and crunchy

Walking distance to many local hotels in the area. Nice clean street food environment. Like that they didn't use plastic cutleries here. Food was good . Some locals do come here but mostly tourist or locals whom bring tourist here. The fried carrot cake was lacked seasoning but had wok hei. The noodles soup , wonton noodle and oyster omelette was good. The drinks were pretty small portion for rm 3. It was served in a kiddy cup and mostly ice.

Last visited August 2022.The night hawker stalls operate from 4 p.m. till midnight. My few favourite stalls which I frequented:The lady selling apom, a larger version of the Kuih Kapit, very light and airy, each piece is RM0.60.The Mother & Son classic Penang wonton noodlesThe Char Koay Teow, wok-hei & reasonably pricedIt’s very lively now after the pandemic, with a flow of local and foreign tourists. The road is not closed to cars; tables and seats are by the roadside; it is advisable to dine-in at your own discretion.

Dinner @ Chulia Street Night Market & Xi Nan Cafe..The area on a weekday night seemed quieter than I recall, with only a handful of stalls in the Chulia Street Night Market, perhaps a fallout of the pandemic..Loved the Lor Bak, or 5 Spice Roll (MYR RM18), a mixture of fried items and fritters..Among the medley of ingredients, those that stood out included the eponymous 5 Spice Roll with its crisp crunch to the tofu bean curd skin, and robust meaty earthy savoury sweet salty nutty spice flavour from the juicy filling..The bouncy tofu bean curd with grainy sweet flavour was comforting, while the chewy Taiwanese pork sausages had addictive meaty savoury sweet smoky flavour..The Cuttlefish Kang Kong (MYR RM18) has fresh blanched water spinach with vegetal bitter sweet flavour, while the slippery cuttlefish lends a good crunch to texture..Topped with pickled mustard greens, crushed peanuts, and lime juice, while the thick gravy has an enticing sweet savoury shrimpy sour spice flavour, yum..The Wanton Noodles (MYR RM6.50) is served Hong Kong style with a dark soy sauce gravy..They're well regarded for having bouncy thin egg noodles with grainy sweet salty flavour, and medium-sized minced pork dumplings infused with pork lard oil which carries robust meaty sweet savoury salty flavour, yum..We were drawn to the frying skills of the hawker at Granny's Fried Oyster Omelette Shop. The Fried Oyster Omelette (MYR RM16) has lots of egg without much potato starch, fluffy and soft and moist, with bold eggy sweet savoury salty flavour. The oysters were small and carried a small juicy bite with briny salty sweet flavour, pairing well with the spicy garlic chili.

A wet market and a large Foodcourt selling varieties of poultry, fish, vegetables, dry goods, beancurd, and wet market items at a reasonable price. The large food court serves Pasembur, Koay Teow Soup, Char Koay Teow, Lam Mee, Laksa, Indian Mee, Hockkien Mee, and many more. Our favorite and notable stalls are Pasembur, Pancake (Ban Chang Kuih), Kuih² stall, Duck Koay Teow Soup, Char Koay Teow, Keat Poh and Koko drinks.Great place to have food and do marketing in one go. Wide range and reasonable price of fresh produce.

As a frequently returning Penangite I can say that this place has lost both its street food quality and it’s charm.Customers still throng the place due to its once-famous name and tourists are often guided here as an all-in-one-place Penang food fiesta. But that’s a shame. Penang has so much better to offer.Quality of almost all food is lower than elsewhere on the Island. Speed to serve large numbers of customers during holidays and peak hours has forced sellers to comprise on cooking time and methods. Serving sizes have dropped and ingredients watered-down. Ironically, prices have gone up.The Gurney Drive promenade that was once breezy and open, is now congested with traffic and the sea-face is undergoing massive land reclamation. For now at least, the charm of Gurney Drive is gone.Suggestions:- go for the famous CKT- muah chee is still good- fruit rojak is good- avoid pasembur- satay, only if you’re desperate

I was disappointed and let down but the sheer rudeness of certain hawkers. We were a group of 10 so needed a bigger table and none could accommodate although it was early and empty! The food least to say was average. The quality and portion has dropped. Possibly due to covid and how prices of things has gone up. Portions are smaller. Don’t think I’d be back anytime soon. It’s not like what it was before. Many stalls are closed. I’d usually say, let’s support the local scene but in this case I was put off by some rude people. 5/10.

One of the popular hawker food centres you must come to get the taste of Penang food. Came here with friends for dinner.Pasembur was good, except the tau fu tasted 'spoilt' (basi).Fried oyster with egg was good.Char koay teow was good (have to wait in long long q).Boiled cockerells quite good. But somehow i felt that the prices have gone up. Some stalls don't allow you to share seatings with another stall. There's a well kept public toilet here, too.

Tasty iced fresh lemon tea, make a good start of my day, so refreshing. Rice rolls taste good, the texture and sauce are good, I don't like shrimp smell sauce, the sauce they put don't have this smell. White curry noodle tastes good, soup have the smell of coconut.

Was pretty empty on a weekend lunch. You have a order a drink to sit down. The char siew chicken rice stall had a queue going so being the Singaporeans that we are, we decided to try as well and it didn’t not disappoint. The char siew was lean and fragrant, but the roast duck (yes they sold duck as well) was heavenly. Think chewy yet melt in your mouth. The emperor noodles was worth the try as well, it was bouncy and had the wok hey taste. At night it’s even more lively. The charcoal ckt is a must try but be prepared for a long queue.

The char koey kak (fried yam cake), char o-cian (omelette with oyster) very good. Will always visit here for dinner if i am at penang.Walked 7 mins from Veno hotel & no need worry parking. Many oysters in the omelette & value for the money. The iced drink from the aunty stall (front of the lane) also good.Sea Ham (sea cockle) the best, big & juicy & half cooked. Very good too. Do visit if you are here.

One of the famous curry mee. Have been passed down to the younger generation, they are very polite and serves quite quickly. Taste is good and portion is good too for a RM5 per bowl. Caution: SAMBAL CAN BE SPICY TO SOME PEOPLE, so for those who can't take spicy, you may ask for less/ separate/ no sambal. Also please bring your tissueOnly minus 1 star due to poor dine-in space. Some customers take the mee to other stalls to eat. Definitely will come again tho. Haha

Disappointed with this famous laksa. Big big difference between now and then. The renew shop lost its touch of this signature dish. Let’s start with the broth, plain and without much fish. The vegetables that came with the broth wasn’t that appealing as well. Smell wasn’t there. I try my best to finish it just to show respect to the restaurant. Don’t think I’ll patron them again.

*Parking around this area in general is a challenge (Especially if the morning market is open, and combined with the temple going crowd). If you do decide to drive here, I would recommend parking in the neighbourhood few streets down and just walk over.**If you don’t feel like coming here to have the food, do note that this store is available on AirAsia’s food delivery app so that’s always an option.Ambience:Although not the most comfortable with the cars honking away beside you, I think you’re pretty much already getting the best you can for a roadside stall. There are plenty of tables so you should definitely be able to find a seat in no time.Service:Staff are really friendly and found us a table just when we arrived. Extra condiments were also freely given when requested so that was nice. The drinks stall beside are also really attentive and will quickly come over to take your orders if they see you.Food:There’s a reason why this stall is so popular, and I think the hype is definitely justified. The depth of flavour in the soup is just not something you can find in most stores and you get plenty of ingredients in it too.Price:Pretty reasonable prices, as it was RM5.50 for a bowl. You are definitely getting your money’s worth in this. Conclusion:The food here is definitely top notch and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to sample how Asam Laksa should be like.

Good sweet cendol, tasty fruit rojak and addictive (and expensive) deep fried battered bananas. The quality of the food is good and worthwhile especially if you're a tourist in search of local Penang food. It took us a while, barely 10 minutes, before we got a seat. The custom is the moment your food and drinks arrive, you'll have to pay the server or vendor in cash. While the seating arrangements inside are cramp, the establishment is old and has a lot of history. The servers and vendors were friendly and efficient.

LaksaChendolRojak🍜 Food wise:Chendol had a strong gula Melaka taste, soft sweet delicious kidney, and red beans, the green chendol was firm and soft! Very good dessert for the hot weather.Penang Asam Laksa had a strong aroma and taste from mackerel. The broth was sour and flavourful. The rice noodles were chewy, very Q, and thick. Needed a few bites to break it down into smaller chunks. It had onions, cucumber, chili, mint leaves, and minced sardines. This dish was probably not for me mackerel. It depends on each person's preferences.Rojak had mangoes, pineapple, tau pok, cucumbers, and tunip, quite generous portions and they were soft and savoury! The sauce was not only sweet but it also had the taste of prawn paste! Delicious!✨ Ambience wise: Little squeezy but good enough for food!🤵🏻 Service wise: Great!💵 Price wise:Laksa: 6.50 RMChendol 4.40 RMRojak 8.50 RM

Quite unique flavour. It taste good but I won’t queue 2 hour for that. The girl boss is very friendly. The prawn flavour flavour was powering with the caramel sauce, it balance well with the fruits. It is really a thick sauce. Crispy you teow was good. Big portion and it is filling. They have spicy, extra spicy and non-spicy sauce. Prepare for the sugar rush!!!

Had to be rushed to the A&E due to persistent vomiting and diarrhea after consuming this and took 5 days to fully recover. The taste is mediocre and honestly nothing special. This was surely not worth the abdominal cramps, puking, diarrhea and hospital trip. Two of us had food poisoning after this so please proceed with caution

Good for buying food stuff, varieties ok. Not overly crowded. The Asam Laksa stall is pretty decent, love the fried mushroom at the junction. The pork satay pairs very well with its green chili sauce, love it, it's the stall that sells curry fish ball. The pork burger was a let down.

One of the cheapest Lok Lok in Penang with a unique experience whereby you can have your Lok Lok while sitting on a table comfortably. They have plenty of variety as well. Most importantly, you need to pair the items with their different types of delicious sauces which will give the kick! The uncle who counts the stick is like sightseeing for us since he doesn't use a calculator even if there's more than 100 sticks.Be prepared to wait for the table as mostly the place will be crowded at night and difficult to get a parking spot as well. Will return again to try other dishes at this place.

This drink smells citrusy. With sirap selasih some coconuts and other. I bought it from the freezer which is convenient for me. I've been waiting since 10 am just to see what's so special about it. Different than normal SIRAP SELASIH. I don't need to Que since I purchase it from the freezer but I bet the drinks will be better in ice packets. If you wanna get easy access to a park, I advise you to park near Nasi kandar ketapang. They have a park near there so you can pay through PENANG park apps or get inside a Mall park near there which they provided.
