Decent Japanese food with reasonable price. The ramen soup is not that salty compared to other restaurant. You can get their free membership with 6% discount for all the food in their menu.My kid loves their kids meal, mainly is the aeroplane designed plate and free toy.It can serve you well as a family typed restaurant.

From the outside, it looked like a semi-high end Japanese restaurant, but the food and service is just average at best. The staff looks disinterested and is just trying to rush things along. I got asked to change table 3 times WHILE walking in by 3 different staff. All of them just points at a table then walks off so there were alot of miscommunication.Ordered spicy ramen myself and girlfriend ordered Teriyaki rice bowl. Ramen broth isn't too bad but definitely no depth to it. The chicken in the rice bowl however, looks so dry. Only saving grace is they're using actual Japanese rice. The area in general is known to have terrible parking so be prepared for that. All in all, it's an average Japanese food place disguised as a high end spot.

First time eating here after 2 to 3 years. I went around lunch time and not too packed.I agree with some of the reviewers here that improving the service with a smile would make the experience better 😊Overall i have always liked the ambience and decor. I was seated at the 4 person booth seat. I rather enjoyed that it gives you the experience like sitting on the floor though it's elevated though your feet don't really touch the floor. I'm pleasantly surprised i was seated there since i was there alone. The decor gives a 'Japanese' feel compared to other Japanese restaurant, and since we don't get to go Japan now, it's a nice experience. The portion is quite ok for the price too.Food wise, i liked the taste though if you prefer lighter testing food, you may consider it too 'heavy' with the umami.Throughout the meal, more people came in, so the place does have it's fans.

My second time here because the food keep calling me to come back. Bring it my favourite person to my new favourite place. The prices is affordable and average for the Japanese style restaurants. Environment is great either for gathering or for me-time. Friendly and helpful team. Will come again with other favourite person.

A halal sushi restaurant located within Setia Spice Arena. I tried the burger and I'm surprised the bun is infused with matcha. I thought it would taste weird but it's not. The taste is somewhat sweet with a hint of matcha taste, it's special, must try! Service was great, sushi was tasty, portion is average. Price is typical sushi price, slightly expensive compared to Sushi King.

Great food, fresh salmon with no fishy taste. I wish the restaurant can consider to add sashimi on the menu cause it's so damn good. Price is super affordable and the ambience is cozy. Will recommend to all my muslim friends.

Failed as a sushi house, sushi rice is so soggy and sticky as if eating nyonya kuih. Cha soba is overcook, turn out very mushy. Vegetable portion is terribly small, and priced for Rm 10.Only thing good is the soft shell crab salad and vegetable kakiage.

Located at a cosy nook opposite Gama supermarket, it is tastefully decorated. The food served is premium standard Japanese cuisine. Their presentation and serving size rival and sometimes exceed that of other equivalent Japanese restaurants. The only drawback is that they should expand to the neighbouring unit as well to accomodate more diners. My favourite White Tuna(Shiro Maguro)Sashimi came fresh, plump and flavourful at just the right temperature. For a more filling choice, opt for Shake Tataki Maki and Unagi Tataki Maki. Between the two choices, go for the Unagi Tataki Maki which comes with avocado. The Seared Hotate serving is a bit small yet I give them points for a close to sashimi natural taste complemented by sauces, roe and seaweed. Avocado Milk is actually a smoothie served in a tall glass. Their small space means no room for a kaiten belt. I don't mind since I prefer my sushi made fresh. Therefore I was most impressed by their Ebikko Hana Maki salmon sushi. I find Ikura Maki too salty so I stick to the Hana Maki which has been my favourite when I tried it some years ago at a major sushi chain. If you order hot green tea, it is refillable as the wait staff will periodically check on you. The standard Chawan Mushi comes with faux shark fin. It is served in a dainty ceramic vessel. To avoid the crowd or having to book in advance, dine in on a weekday evening as their small unit can be inundated during busy weekends. Be patient and you will be attended to. The food quality is worth it.

I gave 4 stars. Food is good and beyond my expectation. The taste is a little bit stronger and good for those prefer strong taste. Kirin ramen is special and fit my taste. Pork kimchi rice also nice. Takoyaki is crunchy and taste sweet. However portion is small looking at the price tag. Service is good. No issue of parking just park at Gama and walkover.

Overall above average. Do try their cheese baked oyster, palm sized big and taste good. The unagi fry rice was an unexpectedly good combination. Curry Katsu was aromatic. The salmon was fresh. However, quite thirsty after the meal, suspected to be to much MSG haha.

One of the best sushi places . Went here in a Saturday and ordered a variety of sushi, edamame and tempura prawns. The sushi was delicious and premium tasting. One of the sushi also had mango which was a delightful surprise . The tempura portion was huge and delicious. The edamame were well salted and fresh with the talk attached. We also ordered hot sake which was alright. The service was good and the waiters were attentive in refilling our green tea. Happy I found this place. Will definitely be coming again to this place.

Overall, good experience to dine in Dozo. The food is decent. The place is spacious and the crew are attentive. Personally fond to their Ten-don, and Maki that was made with cucumber wrap but without rice inside. Interesting combination. Bacon with asparagus - all time favourite but would prefer not so burnt. Salmon sushi and sashimi set meal are gems. More to explore in their menu, definitely worth second visit.

The food is very exquisite, authentic Japanese food. The menu itself is very special because there's a wide selection of seafood and meat to pick from and the homebrew lemon beer is very refreshing. There's whole sets of manga in Chinese up for reads as well if you're a manga fan.

Not the typical Japanese restaurant you see outside. This place serves local delicacies such as stir fry pork liver to mapo tofu to Sang Mee(crispy fried noodle with sauce) I was in for a great shock of my life but it was late(9pm) and I wanted to eat Unagi with rice so badly. We ordered Unagi, and my spouse ordered what they recommended which is their so called special beef stew. Beef was very tender that's for sure but nothing at all Japanese about it. Certainly not the best dish I have eaten. Something that even your father in law who has never been to the kitchen can whip up that dish. Just make sure you slow cooked them. Guess what, for an exorbitant Rm52 ringgit.. you only get a small tiny bowl of beef(ala carte) No rice, nothing.Whereas my unagi set, comes with a eenie minnie tiny bowl of rice., some really pale looking shredded cabbage they called salad, 2 small slice of watermelon, seaweed soup. The Unagi came right out from the sea and went straight to the BBQ pit as it is. No debone, scale 100% intact. I couldn't find pleasure in eating the unagi because I'm not sure I'm really eating one because there was sooo much bones. The unagi skin I have to forego because the scale was so hard and covered the whole skin. In the end, that tiny piece of unagi, I had to just not eat the whole thing.. because of the scale and bones.. too damn difficult to eat. If they were very fine. You might still be able to just swallow them with your rice. As for the stew.. we had to order extra bowl of plain rice to eat with it.1 set of unagi (Rm 48+) plus 1 beef stew 52 plus 1 rice, the bill came up to Rm 115+ and both adults are only half full. I swear I could have gone to any Japanese shop, paid for 115, eat till I drop.

Sushi House, the House of terror. Just a minute into eating, and disappointments started swarming down my throat like Air Terjun Kebun Bunga. With an empty stomach since breakfast, we were trying to settle down somewhere nearby with food that is easy on the stomach. As we noticed a reasonably priced Japanese place on Google, we were quick to head there, expecting to be served Japanese food of about the same grade as Sushi Mentai (acceptably average at best and affordable).Alas, the nightmare begins. A Salmon Sushi that crumbled by a slight touch and an overly saucy Aburi Shiro Maguro Sushi. Never mind that, as we moved on to my Chicken Teriyaki set, an all day set meal priced at RM23. The miso soup's taste was lacking (how can the most fundamental element of a Bento even go wrong? This is at rock bottom), the salad had barely any dressing, and my chicken was far from tender.I also found my cold, light brown, Ocha a little funny tasting, as if there were corners cut. I turned around to look at the table behind, and their Ocha was a nice light green colour, which was what mine should have looked like. When I questioned the waiter on the difference, he defended saying that was because I requested no ice in my cold Ocha. That was really absurd as a chilled (without ice) or hot Ocha should look like green tea regardless, just as in many other proper Japanese restaurants I've been to. My partner suspected that the green tea was oxidised, and the ice perhaps slowed down the process. This indeed aligns with many of our findings online. So who knows, it could be likely due to the quality of the green tea deployed.Everything was so poor, that the best thing it had was the quality of the paper used for its receipt. My supposed rating in the first 10 minutes for it had to drop by a star when my dining experience came to the end. I wish this restaurant all the best continuing its business in the row of vacant shop lots.

This is a good place to visit if you don’t like packed restaurants. The last call is 8.30pm as they close at 9pm. Service is good. The taste of their food is 4 out of 5. The tempura is rather too flakily-oily. I would come back to try their ramen and don though.

Menu is extensive with a variety of slightly more unusual options when compared to your usual franchise Japanese restaurants. Quality, taste and portion are alright, but overall experience is underwhelming when you compare it to its price point.Despite having many serving staff, a mistake was made to our order. When clarification was seek, a senior floor staff was brought in but the attitude was not very friendly. The mistake was only found out after we objected again that the food was not ordered by us and the staff checked the order sheet a second time.Overall, I would say it's a place to try out for its popularity. Not to mention parking space is limited as well.

Very crowded during dinner time. Made reservation to avoid long queue. The aircond nearby our dining table was having leaking issue so we dined with very fast water dripping BGM. Food wise, so so. The buta enoki with butter tasted bland. Shougaki with mountains of cabbage but not so much of buta niku. Sashimis were decent, quite fresh. Floor crew were very polite and refill tea was not so difficult. Got vouchers after payment.

One of the only places I know in Penang island that serves authentic Japanese food, without an outrageous price. The food is prepared by a Japanese chef, which speaks to its authenticity. Good food with reasonable prices, particularly the set lunch. Much better than most chain Japanese restaurants.

Dropped a rating cause I was seated at the bar with dishes and plates, salad blocking my view as per photo. Price ranges from affordable to fairly high. Overall I think there's some value in it. Place is inside a hotel I'd you're wondering from the streets outside. Had the yakitori also but it's definitely not authentic to the jp counterpart. seems a different cut was used. Attendant said the yakitori and bar down the road is sister banch same owner. Tempura was fine, mildly seasoned

The restaurant looks a bit aged as it has been around for more than 20 years. Apart from that, the service and food is of top quality. The Japanese boss often makes her round to make sure her customers are well served. If you want a taste of Japanese at affordable price, this is the place to go.

First of all, Irasshaimase is truly practiced here. Their service is one of the best I have experienced. I needed a phone charger and they went to get one for me. And when they see diners needing something, they'll proactively get it even before you asked. They look out for all the diners in all corners of the restaurant.Second, food is great too and prices are very good, in fact, I wouldn't mind paying 20% more but don't tell them that. I'd like to go back again soon.

Edo Ichi is by far one of the best Japanese Restaurants we've tried so far! From service to speed to taste, everything here is top notchService: Our waitress attended to our table fairly quickly. Also served us and recommended us some of the best dishes we've ever tasted. A crucial part of out experience truly.Speed: Our food came out approx 9 mins after we ordered and it didn't even felt like 9 minutes because the drinks came out right after we ordered which is super fast despite the restaurant being crowded!Food: We ordered>- stir fried beef rice- garlic fried rice- Cheese baked octopus balls (takoyaki) *must try!!!- pretty sure it's called saba fish (if you're not a fan of bones then it might not be for you)- Half a Blackfish Sashimi (i dont know the name of the fish) *One of the best sashimis I've ever tasted- Sushi Bento (pretty much a bento with fried prawns/eggplant, sushis and Sashimi. If you are not into sashimi then dont try the blackfish one but if you are you MUST!!!The cheese baked takoyaki however is a must try!! Even my mom that doesn't like cheese said its really good!!!The sashimis are quite thick and definitely better than your common japanese food etc; Sushi King 🥲🥲Lastly, surrounding of the restaurant is comfortable but a bit dim which is okay for me. Do be mind there are hotpot options there if you're not a fan of sashimi!! 9/10 would come again!!!Total amount for the order is RM305.97

It was an extraordinary omakase experience in Kazumasa. My friend and I enjoy it so much. Went there to celebrate my friend birthday. My friend commented it was one of the unforgetable meal ever. Manager-Syed, staff and chef are so friendly. Due to previous miscommunication we didnt have chance to sit at the bar and dine hence we left. This time we went back and get the bar seat and they make it all up to us. Prepare special arrangement for my friend's birthday. I would say I am so impressed with the food prepared by the chef. Chef enthusiasm and professionalism in preparing the food is superb! Definitely recommend to try this restaurant. We definitelly will be back for more!

We had the Chef's special omakase. The meal was exquisite, each course contained premium ingredients that were slowly and meticulously assembled to produce dishes as pleasing to the eye as the palate. This gem in Penang is worthy of a spot in any capital city in the world.A pleasing touch is the little dish that holds the soy sauce. Empty it looked as if the bottom was contoured but with no discernable pattern. Then when the soy sauce is added a picture of Mount Fuji emerged.

I had the ala carte menu with my family and happy to say we had a very pleasant experience here. Staff members were very polite and understanding even though we arrived later than our reservation time. Service was excellent as well. Kudos to the chefs and staff members. Will certainly visit again in the future.

30/8/2022 12:00pm-1:00 pm Lunch (Sushi Gozen course)I heard really good things about this restaurant from many Japanese expats. The service by the 2 waiter was excellent. However I was not impressed by the quality of products given during my time there. For the starter前菜 I was served with cold chicken with kewpie sauce. Unfortunately, there is a sharp chicken bone stab the roof of my mouth. This left me with a bad first impression as Japanese food must be meticulous and precise. The chawan mushi was ok. The sushi was good. However, there is far too much wasabi which overpowered the freshness of the fish. Chawan mushi was ok. The only thing that was delicious was the tempura and sashimi. 2 out of the 7 dishes. Overall, the lunch was mediocre and felt unsatisfied as I was expecting a high class Japanese dining experience. The last thing I want to add is your ocha taste like plain water which cost rm 5. 普通の回転寿司よりレベルが低い!

I'm an omakase virgin, and was very fortunate to read about this place in another reviewer's scathing review of a different Japanese restaurant. After dining here, I shall always fondly remember this place as the restaurant that gave me my first omakase experience without me having to break the bank.I had made reservations earlier and was lucky to find a parking spot nearby (please give yourself ample time to find parking as parking spots are very limited around the area). My wife and I were greeted promptly when we slid open the door, and we were ushered to our place at the counter with a clear view of the kitchen. The ambiance was excellent with warm lighting, clean, simple decor and light wooden panels. The Head Chef, Arakawa sensei runs his kitchen behind the counter like a tight ship, constantly giving orders to his crew and consistently checking the quality of the food prior to it being served to his guests.Every course in my Omakase meal was served immaculately with clear introductions and descriptions. The presentation and taste of each course was sublime starting with a chilled appetizer of seasonal veggies and baby squid, followed by very fresh sashimi, a steamed dumpling with pork and chives, a grilled amberjack collar (perfectly seasoned), a shrimp croquette and the main entree which was Unadon Tamago (grilled eel on a bed of rice accompanied with egg). I made sure I took sips of Sake in between courses and mouthfuls to reset my palette so as to not mix flavors the chef did not intend. My meal was wrapped up by a simple but very flavorful matcha ice cream with adzuki topping, and a wrapped sweet dumpling with black sesame paste filling.I absolutely enjoyed myself, and I do see myself coming back whenever I feel like giving myself a special gastronomic treat in the future.
